Architecture engineer

I have read many threads that architecture degree is a tough one and do not pay quite well. However, I wanted to take a different route.I wanted to do engineering as well or at least finish it after architecture. Since I already took all gen-ed/elective, when I start next fall I only have to focus on the architecture course. In order to be a full time at UIC, i have to take 12 credit hours so I wanted to take engineer course too((mechanical)).

Will engineering + architecture will allow me to go further than regular architect?

I know that there will be some agreement and disagreement.

A good example i found is that people might think of people working in thailand earn far too little to live. My uncles earn over 6000 usd a month and they are not doctors or drugs dealer. Because of this, I always view think quite different.

what are you views on doing engineering and architecture?

When I finish, I would like to start my own company in Thailand. So, any more guidance would be useful.

Thank you in advance

If you like engineering and want to take courses then by all means do it.

Will it help you in the profession? Anything that broadens your education should provide some value.

Will it allow you to go further? Possibly, though how far you go is going to depend more on your leadership skills than any technical courses you took in school.

Will having engineering courses/degree get me a higher paying architectural job coming out of school; probably not.

I have no idea what practice is like in Thailand, so my comments only apply to U.S. practice.
