<p>A small fortune is spent on brochures, post cards, view books, and various materials mailed directly to high school students.</p>
<p>Have you been influenced one way or another by these mailings?</p>
<p>Has a random college’s mailing inspired you to apply?</p>
<p>No … and no.</p>
<p>No but I have to admit, I was pretty enthralled at Vassar’s pretty brochure and Princeton’s “In Brief 2008-09” with their flowering tree over the fountain in front of their library. I’m a sucker for those flowering trees lol!
But I’m sure everyone is aware of the blatant advertising and do their best to make their own judgements.</p>
<p>They help with getting the name of the school out.
If their advertisements are of quality then I may get on the internet and research the school a little before throwing them out :)</p>
