If a CAS student wants to take a Tisch course as an elective, does she have to pay extra fees above and beyond the price of CAS tuition? I saw a listing of Tisch courses that mentioned extra fees of close to $500 per class! I’m confused, since we were told that yes, it was possible to register for these courses as a CAS student, but if it’s $500 more per class, that would make it financially impossible to do.

She can take the open arts curriculum as a CAS student.

What Tisch courses had extra fees?

First, a CAS student can take Open Arts classes through Tisch (these are a small segment of Tisch classes, not the studio classes) and I highly doubt there is a fee to do that! They can’t just take any Tisch class though.

I am not understanding this $500/class Tisch fee? My kid went to Tisch and there was no per class fee. However, the yearly tuition for NYU has a fee specific to Tisch on top of the regular tuition. Maybe that is what the OP means? That is not per class though. My husband just looked up a yearly tuition bill (this is not this current year but gives an idea) and there was a fee of $1200/semester for students enrolled at Tisch in order to attend Tisch, over the normal NYU tuition. There was no per class fee.
