I don’t know if anyone will be able to answer this, because even admissions comm. don’t seem to be viewing it this way. My writing score is actually much higher than my cr, so I’m wondering if the multiple choice section of the writing test would have been reflected in my cr score. It wouldn’t matter so much if schools were looking at the writing score - but, they aren’t yet. So, are some of us at a disadvantage because our cr scores are lower than they might have been. My tutor has heard that there is definitely some talk that cr scores have dropped since the writing section was introduced.

But anywho, to me, writing and reading were two very separate tests and should be viewed as such. I mean, I could have never picked up a grammar book in my life and still have been able to answer the CR questions. Likewise, I could have just read the grammar book and never read any other book and have failed CR and passed W.

So even though in school we tend to clump the two together, they test two distinctly different skills. I don’t we should view getting a good score on one as a way to “even out” a bad score on the other.
