<p>Yes, all of the economic majors at UChicago are singularly focused on getting a job at a major investment bank after graduation. They are, without exception, materialistic, self-centered and shallow. Not a single one of them has even a scintilla of intellectual curiosity.</p>

<p>haha i definitely know quite a few econ majors like this, a lot of first years are hungry. How pervasive this is I can’t say for certain, many people are ambitious but tend to be more relaxed about career prospects/keep it to themselves. But they all also came here to think more intellectually and critically as well.</p>
