Are freshmen decisions an indicator to how transfer decisions are gonna go?

I’m banking on getting into UC Davis specifically, and I noticed that freshmen decisions came out today. Does freshmen enrollment play a role in how many transfers are admitted/rejected? I mean, the space available within a certain campus stays the same regardless of class-level distribution right?

The reason I’m asking is because I read that UC Davis admitted fewer freshmen this year (because of over-enrollment issues last year). Does this mean that there will be more space available for transfers this year (due to the fewer number of freshmen)? Or are the two class-levels completely independent of each other?

The existence of the TAG program probably suggests that transfer and freshman admissions are completely independent of one another.

Now another question is how is TAG related to non TAG? Are people who have a fairly high GPA (i.e. 3.8+) jeopardized because of people who TAG that only have a 3.3 for example?

@DescartesQ: Good call, I never thought about the TAG program when I asked this question.

@xcballin: Since the UCs only allow you to TAG to one campus, the chances of low-GPA TAGers pushing out high-GPA non-TAGers is practically nonexistent. This is just my belief though, so I may be wrong.
