Are instructors allowed to teach their family, relatives or friends

In college, are instructors allowed to teach their family, relatives or friends who are undergrad students?

Yes, if they don’t show favoritism.

A guy I know’s dad is a professor at the same school as him, and he is not allowed to take his class. However, that may be because his dad does not always teach that class. If a class was required by a major and the kid was majoring in it and the class was always taught by the kid’s parent, I think they’d make an exception.
