this has been getting said a lot…is that true?

of the three kids from my school applying ED… one had a 1470 (me), one had a 1440 and one had a 1370. 1370 got interviewed, but not me or the 1440.

ooo well tht makes it seem like the rumor is true…but i got interviewed and i have a 1480 so…? i think we should stop obsessing until the night of dec. 9…whats the point of worry about it now-its out of our control

…plus interviews aren’t over and you don’t get much notice for them. my interviewer said that he only gets one person at a time(once he sends an eval. for them, they send him another name). on penn’s website, it says interviews are done for ed nov until the very beginning of dec. if they have time and ppl in your area. neways…they dont take it much into account and ive never heard of an interview going badly so i guess its a good thing for borderline kids like me :O/

well High SAT can mean low gpa…or bad rank

OR no activities…

ya but i think its too soon for them to have gone over every kids activities/essays to decide who the weak ones are and choose them for interviews…its easier to pick ones iwth lower scores, gpa…i really dont think theres tht much meaning in who does and does not get an interview, its probably whether they have people and time and in what order they open the folders. its also just kind of a public relation obligation–to say that they dont just look at a paper, they want to meet you and get to know the real u(crap lol)

it must be tough being on an adcom. because you can either make dreams come true or shatter dreams.

id be one of those shatter dreams guys lol. “1400 sat? our average is 1410!!”

grabs rubber stamp

DE-NIED!

I’ll be the director of admissions! “Recommend for Deferral? Nawwwww…I say DENY!” Gets the green marker out…DENIED! “We just can’t afford a 1600 without ECs! This kid lives and breathes books! Penn’s too exciting for him. I am denying him for his own good…”:)

lol I’d also like to be the guy that rejects people over stupid things.

“I mean, he has the scores, the recs, the essays - he has everything… but his name is just really two first names… I mean… Joseph Michaels? DENIED!”

I have high SAT scores (in the 1500’s) and a high GPA and I got called for an interview a couple days after I sent in my application. I really don’t think there’s any validity to that rumor.

how was the party, a?
babysitting was soooooo fun.

hm… then i’d definetely be denied if one of you guys were an admissions officer. during my interview, i kept thinking that the interviewer was going to write a long letter telling Penn what a crappy driver i was. does bad driving and bad parking=DENIED?

I loved my interview. The lady was Frickin’ awesome. She worked in Washington D.C. for seven years for an embassy, and gosh…it was amazing. We talked about everything from my friends, me, to my family, and then, politics, history, books… a very nicely spent 50 minutes of my life to say the least:)

She gave me her business card and told me to call for anything.
I sent her a thank you note…gosh, I just wish Interviews weigh more than they do…but…they don’t.

"are Interviews only for borderline students? "

In a word, Yes.

I don’t understand any of your logic about the interview process…I got contacted for an interview before I even submitted part II of my application

How do you know Duskstamper? That would be good news for me…in a way…because I didn’t think I had a chance at Penn…

I’m kidding. It’s not for borderline students. I got mine 2 days after I turned in my app, and by no means should I be borderline. If I am, I’m in big trouble. Anyway, how could they review my stats 2 days after (and everyone’s stats really), and then e-mail everyone on the alumni boards.

Interviews don’t matter much. I am pretty sure of it. I wish it carries more weight, but it doesn’t…I don’t understand what Duckstamper. But, then, I read Penn’s letter, which says, “Interviews are offered to as many candidates as possible”…I get the idea that they do prioritize some of the interviews…o.O;;

Duskstamper…does Penn hand the Alumnus one interview form at a time or a list? I know for a fact at some schools, it goes ONE FORM AT A TIME.

Does it matter at all? You’re analyzing this too much, there’s not anyway thing you can do now except sit back and wait for deferral/rejection/acceptance.

I know my guy got a list of names.

Yea I am. HEHE. Cool. thanx. I should relax. Definitely.
