I bought the ACT Prep Plus 2018 book after seeing good reviews online.
My average practice test score is between a 30 and 31; would it be possible to get to a 34-36 using this test prep book?

Your best bet for maximizing your score is to focus on the areas you are getting wrong. If Kaplan helps with that - great! Given your good practice test scores, you’ll really want to target specific problem areas in your prep. One of my kids really wanted to improve her score past a 30 and used Barron’s ACT 36 for that. However, not sure whether that’s “the book” - a lot had to do with just understanding where she was still a bit weak and bringing up those scores.
@JBStillFlying Thank you! My struggle area is science because it bores me to death, but I’m trying to get past that to achieve higher scores.
@needtosucceed27 - science is the last section and that’s when most everyone tuckers out. It can definitely be a stamina issue. Trick? Prep when you are tired - like at night, for instance - so that your mind learns to perform under stress. Also, understand that it’s not “science” as much as “science reasoning” - it’s mostly about being able to interpret data, charts and various graphs. If you are bored, attack it with gusto and decide you will conquer it.
Good luck to you!
@JBStillFlying Thank you so much! I know that the science section is pretty easy, since it is not real science, but it’s difficult to get past it with the little time I am given to complete it and the test fatigue that accumulates from taking all the other tests beforehand.
