I’ve noticed that a bunch of Computer Science majors still haven’t found out. So, I was wondering:

DOES UCI RELEASE ITS DECISIONS BASED ON AN APPLICANT’S MAJOR?

If it does, then I’ll be even more worried. I know a couple of Chemistry majors that have already been accepted… and with the UC acceptances being really crazy this year… who knows?

I go to a performing arts school, and only dancers and visual artists have heard so far… probably a coincidence? Eh, I don’t know. Irvine is too confusing to figure out!

Mathematics major here. I have a friend from school who was accepted as this major already and I noticed alot of Engineers, Pre-Med, and Business students have been accepted

My daughter applied to UCI as a theatre major and found out last week she was accepted (by checking the website - she never received an email from them). When we toured last fall, they told us that her application would be evaluated within the pool of other theatre applicants only - i.e. she wouldn’t be lumped into the same large applicant pool with the engineering, science, math etc. majors. Not sure if all departments there do the same thing or just the theatre school. If they do, it would make sense if the decisions came out in clusters by department. But there doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to the way UCI is releasing the admission decisions. Seems to be pretty random, actually.

Ah well. I’m guessing, then, that our son didn’t get in. But congrats to your daughter! We saw their production of Sunday in the Park with George a few weeks ago and it was outstanding! I was highly impressed. (And I’m very picky.)
