I’m a rising senior and these are all of my ECs:
-Frequent volunteer at local library for past 2 years (Received the Library District Volunteer Appreciation award in 2016)
-Involved with school’s Black Student Union for past 3 years and served as the club secretary from 2016-17.
-Involved with school’s National Honor Society for past 4 years.
-Volunteered over 250 hours of community service
-Vice President of Hospitality for school’s DECA chapter
-Developed, administered, and participated my high school’s first fashion show through DECA.
-Elected as a state officer for Nevada DECA association. Under this position I have/am working on:
Traveling to various conferences across the nation to serve as an ambassador for my association.
Developing a bridge program for high school seniors to connect with local college students and prepare for the college experience.
Giving presentations to local high school students about a variety of DECA topics (How to raise chapter membership, scholarships, etc.)
As you can see, I’m really involved with DECA (A business organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs…)
Do you think these are good enough to get into Stanford?
You can do whatever you set out to do. Shatter the glass ceiling. You go girl.
Hello there! Those things you listed are some very nice ECs! I’m sure they will definitely help you when you’re being evaluated by an admissions officer. However, nothing at all will immediately get you in or immediately rejected from a top university like Stanford (not sure about UCLA), so you can never be sure. For example, they also reject people with gold medals from the ISOs (International Science Olympiads). Anyway, Good luck with your application!
Without GPA, test scores, and course rigor, ECs are difficult to evaluate. Stanford is a reach for everyone regardless so be sure to apply to a range of schools.
Are you a CA resident? Consider other UCs: Santa Barbara, Irvine, etc. in addition. What is your UC GPA?
Agree with above poster that you need to post your stats to give the full picture of your chances. You have great EC’s but GPA/Test scores are going to be more of the deciding factor.
Stanford is a Reach for all applicants as stated by @Sportsman86.
UCLA is also a Reach but possible depending upon your UC GPA Capped Weighted and Fully weighted, test scores and your essays. Schools want to make sure you did not sacrifice your HS grades for the sake of your EC’s.

Yes, GPA and SAT or ACT are more important indicators than ECs. You are URM, which may help you at Stanford.
No. We can’t tell enough about OP from that list. It’s mostly DECA. I can’t tell what’s stretchy. We have no idea how the choices relate to her academic plans. It’s not a bold list. Sorry. But what I think comes through is that, before applying, OP should get a better sense of what S looks for. It’s different than what works in hs. Again, sorry. But a savvy app requires some understanding.
