I am a sophomore (african american) applying for the Yess program at Caltech. I heard that they dont accept that many sophomores and I was wondering if a 59 on the critical reading, 61 on the math and a 73 on writing skills was good enough.

PS… this is for a combined score of 193 (for those of you who dont want to add up the scores)

haha you read my mind, I was about to hit the back button bc I was lazy and didn’t want to add :P

193 is pretty low, you should study a good bit over the summer/when you have time (just general advice) Your psat certainly won’t be the high point of your app, but if you have other stuff worth mentioning you might get in.

Thanks, i thought 193 was at least decent for sophomores

193 is quite good for sophomores. Probably around 97%ile. While your scores aren’t perfect they are by no means bad.

they are not bad at all. depending on race, location, and reccs, you will get in. plus you should try SAMS, its double the length of YESS
