Are my SAT Subject Test Scores good enough for Columbia, Hopkins, UPenn, etc.?

Hi, I just today got my SAT Subject scores back. I got an 790 in Math 2 and 740 in Physics.

I know that a large percentage of the Math 2 test takers get an 800, but I’ve shown mathematical aptitude outside of standardized testing. I’ve been a top competitor in my school for the AMC competitions and I am one of only 12 students in my class of 360 who took Calc BC as a junior. I also have a cumulative A+ average in mathematics.

As far as physics goes at my school, only AP Physics 1 is offered, and it only covers classical mechanics, and not the electric fields, optics, magnetism, and nuclear physics that were on the subject test. Would colleges take into account that I wasn’t exposed to those topics?

I want to be apply for engineering or applied mathematics at the aforementioned schools. Are these scores good enough if I already have a really good GPA, rigorous course load, and decent ECs?

I think those are great scores. I “only” got in the mid 700’s on my SAT 2’s, and I’m sure 40 points won’t be the determining factor in your acceptance. GOOD LUCK!

definitely. those scores are more than enough considering the circumstances. I think u have a chance for Columbia. U PENN and JH, I don’t know. it’s an opinion anyhow.
