Are my scores ok?

I am a Chinese student(non-immigrant) and I took the SAT twice:
CR:590 MATH:760 WR:690
CR:640 MATH:780 WR:630
SAT 2 :
Math 2C:800 Physics:800 Bio M:710
I am still in China so APs are no available here.

Will GWU be safe for me?

your math score is excellent, but the critical reading score is in the middle of the GW score range. i’d say, just based upon scores, GW is probably a match, but definately not a safety. what do the other components of your app look like? ECs? GPA? Major? Financial Need?

I want to go to the school of business and I really need financial aid. Is the admission to GWU need-based?

Oh we don’t use GPA to evluate students in China. I am always the top 25 in a grade of 800 students. I also published a lot of articles, including one on the city newspaper. will that help?

for international students, financial need is considered in the application process - GW is not need-blind for internationals. although this certainly won’t mean an automatic rejection, it is a slight obstacle to overcome. with that being said, GW does love diversity in their student body and geography may serve as a hook.

your class rank helps - its a good indicatior of academic potential, but what have you done to be involved in your school? student government? sports? clubs? i would certainly send the newspaper articles as an additon to your application, but do you have anything more that you have done outside of school? also, a good TOEFL score is essential for admission.
