I’m hoping for my ec’s to pull my weight in the admissions process due to low test scores… but i’m not sure if my ec’s are that strong either.

Thanks in advance…

Northwestern is big on test scores. You have a chance, just write good essays. I’d still give it a shot.

your volunteering experience is a plus…but nothing that really sets you apart.

Your essays must be superb! They will make you or break you.

On the side note: I am also an Asian India applying to NW. How many years have you been living in U.S.?

haha no no… by asian indian… i meant i’m of asian indian decent. I was born in America.

How about you, chicagonobel? how many years?

for biomedical, your chances are on the low side.

Definately give it a shot. It’s a competitive field, but you have a good chance.

thanks guys i appreciate it!
anyone else? i’m still debating, i don’t want my college list to be huge…

how is biomedical engineering at northwestern? is anyone on these boards in it? mind giving me a brief overview?

thanks in advance!

If it matters any, Pakistani male. Funny how everyone from South Asia ends up doing pre-med or biomedical engineering…

good luck with your application.

xerxesOiM, did u apply for aid?

northwestern is blind admissions

xerxesoim… don’t wrry about it… ur stats look good, i’m sure u 'll get into other shcools your looking into

do you think it would help if i was an undecided applicant?

a kid from my school just got accepted with an sat score in the 1100s…into bioengineering

wow, xerxesOiM…rejected!? They must have made a typo:) Sure its not accepted?

How were your essays? And did you ask for fin. aid (just out of curiosity)?

See…I’m really stupid in college admissions stuff. I didn’t even know to apply for aid. In fact, I didn’t know it would have anything to do with admissions decision…
…does it?

I mean…I desparately needed aid if i got accepted. My parents can’t really afford 40,000 a year at all. They weren’t even willing to pay 20k a year, but I EDed anyway.

NU doesn’t care if you have money or not; on the other hand, they don’t lure you with any money regardless how great you are. Its admission is need blind and it’s financial aid is totally need based.

becuase he mentioned he’s asian indian, NU is not need blind for internationals
im an international accepted without aid and with similar scores and lower gpa

Oh, my bad. I totally forgot about that even I was an international student too.

haha aright maybe i need to clarify on my stats…by asian indian… i don’t mean international… i was merely trying to avoid saying Indian… and being mistaken for a native american. I was born in america
