Are Parents Happy or Sad When Kids Leave For College?

I would like to know the answer to this question.

happy on the outside, sad on the inside

its more of a bittersweet thing than anything. they are sad that you are moving on but proud of the product they made.

Depends on the relationship between the parents/children. I agree with tracemhunter though–it could be both, hence bittersweet.

I do know of some parents who were totally ecstatic over their children moving out of the house (going to college).

On the other hand, I know of a greater number of parents who were rather sad, yet proud at the same time.

Depends on whether or not they love you.

My mom will be crying…I already feel it…

Well considering the fact that I get beat every night, I think they will be happy for the fact that they get to save so much energy every day.

har har.

get beaten???

grammar nazi???

No…I was asking about your post…I am quite compassionate when it comes to grammar.

well it’s obvious you’re not quite compassionate when it comes to detecting sarcasm

I am rather generous with sarcasm…your point is…

prism said it perfectly.

right now, there are a lot of . . “rough bumps” within the family. but i know if someone died, ran away, left for good, there’d be a considerate amt of sadness, even if it appears … not so much.

My mom will be sad, and my dad will pretend to be. I will reciprocate both sentiments.

reciprocate both ?? what … HELL NO. I CANT WAIT TO FREAKING LEAVE FOR GOOD … i’m never coming back if I don’t have to. if you guys had my parents, you’d understand why. everyone around here pities the poor soul of mine.

Well, what I mean is I will miss my mom.

yeah well. . . cant really say the same thing now.
