The “stuff Brown students say” video does seem to imply a lot of postmodernism.

And Brown’s culture is a lot more conducive to relativism than most other schools. This has its good sides and its bad sides. But I wonder if relativism is a significantly more popular here, as compared with other schools? Not just moral relativism, but also descriptive/normative relativism?

First, moral relativism is metaethics. You can’t characterize a population by metaethics.

Second, descriptive relativism and normative relativism are largely inconsistent in field and in idea. Descriptive relativism is a framework used by anthropologists. Normative relativism is a theory in epistemology and ethical philosophy. I don’t even need to discuss how much their ideas clash.

Third, why would you want to know and how would a metaethical/anthropological theory impact you.

Next time, ask a question anybody can understand. Don’t try to boast of your vaunted expansiveness of knowledge with fancy terminologies.
