Are Princeton dorms really castle-like?

I’ll be attending JSA Princeton in like… 2 days.

How are the dorms like? Specifically, how are the bathrooms like?

We’ll be in either Holder, Hamilton, Joline, or Campbell dorms. Are rooms like spacious? Do they have some sort of furniture? Lighting? Carpeting?

Thanks for the info guys, curious.

hahaha i personally feel surprises are much better. or else, we’ll overhype it so much that you’ll be disappointed once you actually see them.

dorms are great. bathrooms are clean. that’s pretty much all you need to know, for now.

have fun at JSA! from what ive heard, its a great experience. and being at princeton is just icing on the cake :D

Excellent…

Lol icing on the cake? You mean falling in love with a campus that I’d never in a million years get to attend (it’s why I wanted to go to their Georgetown thing).

Good way to spend half the summer anyway

I did JSA at Stanford during my post-freshman summer. Great fun. I still talk to the friends I made there.

joline and campbell do not have very nice bathrooms-- they haven’t been renovated since the 60s or so. All of those dorms are very pretty on the outside, but vary on the inside. All will have furniture, although the provided lighting can be lacking.

All are nice on the outside, but Joline and Campbell aren’t so nice on the inside.

They look a little castle-y on the outside, but not extremely so.

ray, this is the Hamilton Hall that I remember (my sophomore year dorm many moons ago):

it seems to be different than the one you posted.

Honor, if I remember correctly, Holder, Campbell and Hamilton are made up mostly of 3 room suites (2 bedrooms and an living room) including fireplaces in most living rooms.

Nah, that’s just a picture of Hamilton as taken from University Place (facing Richardson somewhat). Maybe you thought of that part of the building as Madison, or perhaps the entrance to Upper Eagle. As for the picture you linked to, I remember that courtyard well, as I also lived in Hamilton my sophomore year (124).

ray, yes I thought it might be a picture from the University Place side of Hamilton, but it seems that there is too much space between the building and the street. I was in 3rd entry sophomore year by the way.

Ok so no Joline or Campbell?

Hopefully I can chose or just don’t get assigned to those halls in the first place. Hope my roommate’s a good one too…

but thanks guys!

I was in Campbell, 2nd entry Junior year. It also has 3 room suites with fireplaces.

here you go.

A video walking through Holder courtyard, into Hamilton courtyard and into a first entry dorm at Hamilton that appears to be a one room double.

Thanks guys, I got a quad in Holder, though my bunkmate never showed up. So I’m enjoyin…

Some galleries of the campus.

JohnAdams, I lived in entry 1 (at least, it’s entry 1 nowadays), in the quad next to a bathroom and adjoining Lower Cloister. It was on the second floor when you approached the building from the north, but on the third floor from the south.

by the way, years ago, the whole of Blair Tower was controlled by Rugby Team/Tiger Inn members.

Is it still one group of people that room there or have they separated the rooms?

Nope, they’ve converted Blair Tower into classrooms and grad student/faculty residences. Evan Thomas of Newsweek currently lives there. In the 90s, that dorm was sometimes referred to as “Casa del Fuego” due to all the fires that would somehow get started in there. I know it used to have an older nickname, back in the days of John McPhee (Cottage '53), but I can’t remember it. I think it was “[Something] Manor”?
