Would taking the SAT Subject Test for Math 1 and the subject test for Spanish help me in anyway, or would it just be a waste of time? Math and Spanish are two of my strongest high subjects, which is why I’d possibly take them. I want to go into music business at NYU, Drexel, Northeastern, or DePaul. Would having taken those two subject tests (plus maybe Math 2 after I finish precalc, and maybe Physics after finishing AP Physics) help my chances of getting into any of the schools I mentioned?

bump…

Yes, good scores are always helpful. They may not be terribly applicable or even important, but it can’t hurt to take them.

For NYU, you may want to take Math II and Spanish in December. Unless you have a top score, Math I is not particularly useful.

JuniorMint- I’m a junior right now. I’m planning to do early decision next year, so I’m pretty sure the deadline will be November 1st, 2013. Should I take Math II and Spanish before turning in my early decision application so the scores can go on it or does it not matter?

Bump…

Oh, in that case, you have quite a few opportunities to take the tests. (Dec, Jan, May, June, October)

If you haven’t already, make sure you have an SAT I score you are comfortable with, and then take two or three SAT IIs. I would take Math II after you have finished pre-calc, so in June. You can take the Spanish whenever you complete the highest level that you are going to take in school.

So I should take the normal SAT then, if i’m comfortable with my scores, take Math II?

Yes, keep in mind that many people take the SAT I twice. If you are aiming for 2100+ you may even need to take it thrice.

I have observed that it is easier to take the Subject Tests in June, when the material is fresh in your mind, rather than October.

Okay, thanks!
