Are self-studied 5s on AP Econs as adequate preparation as ECO 101/102?

I’m planning to major in Economics. I’m currently self-studying AP Micro and Macro Econs and hopefully will get 5s that will place me out of ECO 100/101 and go straight to the next courses.

However, the APs do seem rather elementary, and I’m wondering if they are truly as difficult as getting a good grade from ECO 100/101. Also, since I’m planning to major in Economics, would the self-studied APs (let’s say I get 5s on both) be adequate preparation for higher ECO courses? Or would I find the advanced ECO courses easier if I just take ECO 100/101?
