So my son just got accepted to be in the saxophone workshop at tanglewood institute this year. And waitlisted as a wind ensemble player. Is this any good, and is it worth paying the money for?
Everything I read about a few years ago is that yes, it is a very good program - but as I’m sure you’re seeing, it’s also a chunk of change. What is your son looking for in a music program? Is he just looking for something to do for the summer or is he thinking music is his future college program?
S23 went to New England Music Camp for a couple of years and had a great time. But he wasn’t expecting to pursue Music as an occupation (plays in marching band and may minor in it). NEMC is more of a “Music Camp” but it’s also a lot less $$ than Tanglewood.
There’s lots of different programs out there depending on what the kid is hoping to get out of it.
Both of my kids went to New England Music Camp also…
My musician son was in the BUTI instrument workshop and the wind ensemble. The first year, he was accepted off the waitlist.
He thought it was a fabulous experience!
