Are the slums of Brazil truly intriguing? Supplement Question!

<p>The NYU Supplement Question is: What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, location, etc.), and explain its significance to you.</p>

<p>I decided to write about the slums/favellas in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, and my experience of being exposed to them and how they altered my perspective of the world (considering that I come from a privileged lifestyle).</p>

<p>Would this answer really fit the prompt? I am afraid that my answer is less lighthearted and more dark yet inspirational.
I don’t want to miss a great supplement opportunity yet I still feel like this answer is unique and attention-grabbing.</p>

<p>Here is a short excerpt so you can get the gist of it: “I found myself face to face with the harsh struggles of foreign slums - circumstances that eluded the lifestyle my parents worked hard to provide for me.”</p>
