Are there any homeschool friendly and cheap summer programs?

I am 17, in 11th grade, and have been homeschooled all of my life. Many of these summer programs sound amazing, however most I have found require thousands of dollars and I am unsure of how homeschool friendly they may be.

My family does not have a large income, and I am unemployed. The most that would even be within my financial reach would be around $2,000, and even that would put a burden on my family I wish to avoid.

I took the ACT last summer and only scored a 30 which puts most of the free programs outside of my reach. I had intended to take it again last fall, but I have had too many Boy Scout and church activities planned and it is unlikely that I will be able to take it again with enough time remaining.

My intended field is electrical engineering though I have interest in mathematics, physics, programming, and philosophy. Anything involving such would be ideal.

If anyone has read through that enormous wall of text and has useful knowledge please share it with me.

hey, try Global Leadership Adventures (GLA)… i don’t know if it caters to your interests, but it is a travel/volunteer abroad program, and they have some trips that are around $2000. If you need financial aid, GLA offers up to 30% of the tuition. 30% may not seem like a lot, but it really is considering the cost. The staff is great with working one-on-one to make the trip possible for students, and you can even set up a payment plan.
i went to the Galapagos Islands with them (around $3195) and this summer I’m going to Bali with them as well.

Thanks, but I’m looking for something a bit more academically oriented than service oriented. I suppose I didn’t clarify enough in my opening post. I love helping people, but I already do quite a bit of it through my Boy Scout troop and my church.

You may find that your local public school district or local community college offer classes in the summer open to everyone that are very low-cost.

I would really also like to find some cost-friendly summer programs! Let me know what you find!

you remind me of myself, not to mention I am a boy scout and today just started my first every day of homeschooling. I would recommend one of your math circles, depending where you live and math summer camps.

if you tell me what city you live in I can find a math circle, if not check these out,

and yeah community college is great idea as well.

Can someone tell me how good UUMath program is?

If you are seriously interested in number theory, Ross is something to consider. The cost is $2200 for six weeks of room and board and there is financial aid available as well. I think it is relatively home school friendly as well.
