The more I read about Tulane the more I feel like its the perfect fit for me. The atmosphere, diversity, and education all meet my needs. However, it seems my chances to actually go to Tulane are slim to none just based on the fact of the cost. My chances of getting into the school I think are good, but getting scholarships is a stretch. Even if I get full Financial Aid I still have to worry about traveling expenses and such, and my parents really cant afford that extra $200 or so. So I was wondering, is there any college similar to Tulane that I could apply to, or is it really one of a kind?

That’s a tough one. Of course we will avoid the trivial answer that all schools are unique. In the sense I know you meant the question, there are schools that are somewhat similar in size, academic level, and the like. I think one of things that cannot be compared is New Orleans versus other locations. I truly believe no school is as tied in to its location as Tulane is to New Orleans. Anyway, bottom line I don’t think it makes much sense to run down a list of schools that might overlap in many other aspects, because you would have the same financial issues with them.

However, while Tulane doesn’t have many “full ride” students, it does have a program for no loan tuition, fees and transportation for students whose family income is less than $75,000 per year. http://admission.tulane.edu/aid/index.php It does not cover room/board and books, but that might be covered by some combination of grants and loans, depending on your situation. Look into it, see if you qualify and what the details are.
