Hello I am currently entering undergrad at UCSD as a bio major. Although I am a bio major, I am hoping to do patent law. I understand for med school (while not required), it is encouraged that you take a list of science classes (such as bio, chem, math, phys etc) to help you become prepared and also to help you get in. I was wondering if there are any recommended classes for law school that help you get in as well?

Nothing specific required. Take all the writing courses you can.
Don’t forget courses that practice your logical thinking skills.
I believe that to sit for the patent bar you do need to be a STEM major, I don’t remember the exact details. I’m sure bio is fine for that but you should probably double check especially if you consider changing majors at some point.
The advice above is solid. In law school generally you have one 3 hour essay exam for your entire grade. Analytical skills and writing are key to success. I took a logic class with proofs through the philosophy department that was probably helpful on the LSAT and in law school.
Those things help you once you are in. As far as admissions go, just get good grades. They don’t care a bit what you study. I went to a top law school with theology majors, business majors and science majors. Also lots of English, history and Poli sci. Really about everything. I’m sure I could have found a few buddies who literally took not a single common class. I was an agriculture major in undergrad.
The one thing theye all had in common was that whatever they studied, they had tip top grades. That’s important.
