are there ASE exams to test out of foreign language courses?

No, you just place yourself into the language course you think you should be in. On the first day of class, the professor will usually go around and do a quick assessment of everybody’s skill level and will recommend a class switch if he or she thinks you’re not in the appropriate level.

MIT also does not require a forgein language in order to graduate.

MIT also does not require classes like orgo or linear algebra to graduate, but there are still ASEs for them.

By the way, MIT foreign language courses are tough and take a lot of time. Unlike many high school foreign language classes, no English is used. I took part of one foreign language class (dropped it), and it was the hardest class I took at MIT. Of course, that could just be me. I’m really terrible with vocabulary.
