I put this question in the middle of another thread, maybe nobody noticed it

Let’s try one more time:

Are there finals for classes with grading : Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory?

My D. and I are trying to figure out when her finals will be over and she can fly home for winter break.
It’s clear for all classes except for “INTDSC 1001 - 103 Proseminar in Interdisciplinary Studies”, which has Grading: Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory

It depends on the class. Some S/U classes will have finals and some will not. It will say on the syllabus that she’ll get on the first day of class whether or not there is a final.

Check the finals schedule. It’s just based on the day of the class.

Also, just because it’s on the final schedule (all time slots are naturally), doesn’t mean there is a final. So your daughter could just email the professor, just saying that she’s trying to plan her winter break trip, while getting a good plane rate now, and would like to know if there is a final in the class.

Most professors know by this point whether they’ll do a finals for the class. I haven’t met a professor here yet that is a big enough jerk to not divulge that type of information if a student asked. (Haven’t met any jerk professors fwiw, some are not the rightest or most organized, but they’re all friendly and helpful from the one’s I met so far.)
