Are there schools which require the ACT?

I took the ACT and scored quite poorly in comparison to my SAT score (28 vs 2300). I know I can’t cancel my ACT score at this point. Are there any schools that require you to send in ACT scores?

No. All colleges and universities in the U.S. that require a standardized test will accept either the SAT or the ACT. If you’re content with your SAT scores, you can bury the ACT score.

Yes, there are some colleges that require you to provide all scores you have, both SAT and ACT; Stanford and Cornell are among those.

And you are incorrect. ACT allows a cancellation of scores after they have been released.

I stand corrected about Stanford:

[Testing : Stanford University](http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/application/freshman/testing.html)

But I’m not sure that’s exactly what Cornell requires:

[Admission Requirements | Admissions](College and School Admissions Requirements | Undergraduate Admissions)

Nevertheless, I gave incorrect advice. I’m sorry. I should have said that the number of colleges and universities that wouldn’t let you bury your ACT score is very, very small.

I’d definitely cancel that ACT score and make it ‘go away’. Just make sure that your HS does not add test scores to your transcripts.

Cornell does request all scores, but their directions are as clear as mud because each college uses the scores differently.
