<p>A family friend who is an orthopedic surgeon mentioned he avoided pyramid residencies, where there are fewer spots on succeeding years than at the beginning of the program. This was 30+ years ago, does one still need to watch out of this situation?</p>
<p>One of my profs in undergrad told us about this. Not sure if these still exist. People would avoid these programs like the plague</p>
<p>I have never heard of it before so I’m going to assume they have died out. If they still exist, they have got to be the absolute bottom of the barrel because I can’t imagine anyone preferring this type of program over one where you’re guaranteed to be a board certified physician in X field.</p>
