Are these classes to hard for a not so smart student?

Hello,
So I am going to be junior next year and I was wondring if the classes I have now are tooo… hard… I guess to put into one. I have 3.9 right now as a soph but honestly its because I slacked a lot but I started cleaning up after 3rd quarter. I never got anything below a B- though… mind u I was straight A student… so ya. But I like the classes that I am taking now and want to build it. My counselor did not say anything when I told her I want to take 6 AP classes but honestly many kids are doing 5-7 as well. But I am scared because well I don’t want to do to much that I lose it. I have to take SAT and ACT during this time btw. Also, I really just want an honest opinion because I don’t want to mess up my GPA but I also don’t want to look like I did not challenge myself. Thanks so much!

Here they are:
AP English Lang/Comp*

Pre-Calculus

AP Chemistry*

AP Physics I*

AP Sci Sem Chemistry*

Honors French IV H*

DE College US History*

DE Theater Practicum*

I just love when HS’s made up their own names for classes. What, pray tell, is AP Sci Sem Chemistry?

Anyway, It will be tough and you will have lots of work. Some people can handle it, others crash and burn. Only you know which type of person you are.

It seems like most of the classes you listed have prerequisites, so I think a good predictor of your chances for success would depend on how you did/are doing in your sophomore classes. Although, as a parent, I would encourage you to add a study hall in lieu of one of the DE classes just to help alleviate some of the mountains of work you will have and allow you to keep your sanity.

Science Seminar, maybe? As a supplement to the class?

I assumed that or else the lab section. But schools should know that they can’t just slap an AP label on a course without approval from the CB.

Have you been taking honors courses until this point?

Drop one of the AP sciences…nobody thinks you have to do all of the AP sciences. Figure out what you want to major in and then concentrate on the related sciences…so for engineering take Chem and Physics (this year and next year), for Premed take Chem and Bio.

Not sure what AP Sci Sem Chemistry is…

Do you need to take DE History? Will the Theater Practicum fit in yoru HS schedule?

Here they are:
AP English Lang/Comp*
Pre-Calculus
AP Chemistry*
AP Physics I*
AP Sci Sem Chemistry*
Honors French IV H*
DE College US History*
DE Theater Practicum*

Does your school not offer APUSH? I would take that instead of DE history because it covers the same material for the most part and will usually be easier.

“Are these classes too hard for a not so mart student”
“I have 3.9 right now as a soph”

Not seeing a connection here…

Suggestion: this is a very rigorous schedule, with 4 AP/DE classes and 2 hard Honors classes.

AP English Lang/Comp*
Pre-Calculus Honors
AP Physics I*
non weighted class
Honors French IV H*
DE College US History*
DE Theater Practicum*

Take AP Chemistry next year (assuming you took Honors Chem and got a B+ or higher).

Tbh it’s not bad at all BUT AP Physics 1 can be a hassle. Last year about 3/4 of the students who took the exam at my school got a 1 or 2 ( but mainly because we had a bad teacher). But its do-able just seek help if you need it. Also AP Chem seems like a problem for some people but as long as you pay attention and study you should be fine. AP English Lang is honestly really easy, i enjoyed the class and the ap exam was easy for me, but you have to pace yourself to finish the m/c on time; the essays are really easy. Not sure about the other classes sorry!

Best of Luck!!!

P.S., it is “too”, not to

The AP Sci Sem Chemistry* is a lab class to AP chem so if I take AP chem I HAVE to take this too… they just named it Ap sci sem chem…
