I’m looking into genetics counseling when I am done with HS. Many schools have contacted me like Bowling Green, Akron, Dayton, and Baldwin Wallace. Should I look into any of these? I am currently a Sophomore in highschool.
Genetics counseling requires a graduate degree. So where you do your undergraduate work won’t matter much at all provided you earn good grades in the courses that grad program wants you to have before applying. Between now and when you actually do finish high school, you will be getting all kinds of emails from colleges and universities. Think of it as the electronic equivalent of junk mail. Lots of it will be absolutely useless for you. What is useful is sitting your parents down and having the “money talk” with them. They will whine and fuss and tell you that it is too soon to think about this, but bring them some tissues and adult beverages, and help them run the Net Price Calculators at the websites of the colleges and universities that have emailed you so far. Until they know what they could be expected to pay, all of you will be operating in the dark.
