Okay, here is a list of the colleges that I am considering:
Reaches:
Cornell
Dartmouth

2) Realistic:
Hamilton
Colgate
Middlebury
Brandeis
Rochester
Tufts

3) Realiable:
Binghamton
Geneseo

Do you think that they way that I characterized them is correct? And also, I will be applying for financial aid… I’m assuming that will hurt me somewhat. I would really appreciate it if you chance me. =)

I’m not too familiar with your “realistic” schools, but judging by some of them I think you will get in. You also have a very decent shot at Cornell (seems like they’re the easiest of the Ivy Leagues). Judging by the strong resume you’ll do find. GOod luck with everything

Depending on the school policy the need for FinAid may not matter, but maybe I’m naive. I agree with the organization but I would say with the activities and the GPA Cornell and Dartmouth are not complete reaches. Your actual SAT and ACT scores could re-enforce your standing. I’d say you have nothing to worry about.

I’d move Tufts, Midd and Colgate to the reach list because you’re from NY and face a particularly tough pool of competition at those schools because of it.

cornell is more like a match / high match and dartmouth is slightly harder than that. if you can get like 2150 on the sat you should be pretty secure for cornell. good luck with this

I honestly don’t think you should place such a low value on Binghamton and Genesseo. With a 96, you’d probably be a match, but they’re definitely not safeties just because they’re SUNY’s. They’ve become much more selective. Give yourself some more sure bets. Not like, Hofstra/Adelphi/St. Johns… you can most certainly do better, but maybe… Manhattan? Or if you want something upstate, something like New Paltz.

As for your other schools, I think you’re good at Rochester and Brandeis. Hamilton might be a tiny reach (the only person I know who has ever gotten into Hamilton had a 99 and a 2200). Colgate, Middlebury and Tufts are all reachy. Tufts more than the rest.

Dartmouth and Cornell are where they should be.
