Are These Good Extra Curricular Activities For UNC

Do you like them? Do you find value in doing them?

If yes, then they’re fine. They’re not very unusual, but they’re on par with the rest of the applicant pool, and they’re a lot better than, say, Xbox and marijuana. But if you’re doing any of them just in order to impress UNC (or any other admissions committee), you’re probably wasting your time and effort.

UNC’s applicant pool will have thousands of other would-be Tar Heels who are doing the same things. Some of them will be admitted, and a lot of them won’t be, but the yes-or-no decision will almost never hinge on their extracurricular activities. Unless you’re a good enough swimmer to swim in Division I, your extracurricular activities will never be as important in college admissions as your academics.
