Are these housing choices good as a CAS freshman?

Warren

575 Commonwealth

Shelton

West

The Towers

I COULD apply for the Classics House as well, but I was thinking it’d be better to wait until sophomore year for that, if I want to make friends my freshman year, y’know?

i jsut did my housing survey (i’m CAS too, freshman) and also have the same question

I did

 1. Warren
 2. Towers
 3. 575 Commonwealth
 4. West
 5. Brownstone

Sure sure. Most people would say you want to go with the big dorms for freshman year because you can make a ton of friends really quickly. The biggest ones are Warren, which I recommend because of it is exclusively freshman dorming and is a great transition place to college, and West which has just as many freshman (with some sophomores etc) and access to some of the more classic college scene - nickerson field, student village, and the fitrec.

Towers is like a dimmed down version of Warren with a lot more upperclassmen. Its smaller and is still really nice.

575 is quaint, but somewhat quiet. It used to be a hotel

Brownstones are really nice. Its like living in an apartment

Those are pretty good choices, although from what I’ve gathered from the housing process that has gone on right now, Shelton is full and all that’s left for 575 is triples (one of which I will be living in next year!)

If you’re both CAS freshman, Warren is an obvious choice. It’s literally right across the street from CAS and extremely convienient. Plus, the rooms are a fairly decent size and it’s really really easy to meet people.

I would have to say, many freshman I know who are in CAS or COM or such and are living in West hate it. It is enough of a walk that they are late for class a lot. Plus, in the winter (despite the amazing job Boston does at plowing and icing the sidewalks), no one wants to walk in the cold that far. So to be safe that you don’t end up there, place it at the very bottom of your list.

@enrapturedx- I agree, it might be better to wait for the classics house, espcially if you aren’t from Boston/don’t know anyone yet. You’ll have an easier time making friends if you are in a freshman dorm.
