Are these Universities good enough for an International seeking low contribution? [3.78 GPA, rank 1]

Can’t apply Cornell ED because it is need-aware. I mailed them if the TATA scholarship might make it need blind for indians but there is no reply.

I am super confused on the ED part, I have gotten my essays ready. My mind is flying between Brown and Amherst to decide. obviously Amherst has a better chance.

Thank you.

I don’t think my SAT score of 1430 will work there, I have emailed them asking if there would be any chance of a scholarship.

Thank you.

Respected @MYOS1634 ,

Suppose I get my improved December SAT scores, do I need to send them over officially or can they be self-reported in the college application portal?

Thanks

Most private universities will accept the scores reported on CommonApp.
This would be indicated on the checklist of application items under something like ā€œself reported scoresā€.
Scores reported by your counselor as part of the transcript uploaded to Commonapp are also typically accepted as official.
Universities that want scores directly from Collegeboard will specify it. Many public universities require that. Hence the list for the December ā€œfreeā€ direct scores.

I understand but, once I submit the application in November. How will they know my December score? Do I have to mail them or send scores directly?

It was predicted, it went bad sadly. I am sorry

I don’t think you are right about this. Both Brown and Amherst are reach schools for you…and one isn’t a better chance than the other.

Most colleges allow self reporting in the application BUT if accepted and you decide to attend, they will expect an official reporting of your SAT score.

But Amherst is test optional.

That’s just one component of the application review. It’s still a huge reach.

No I am sorry, I meant to convey that how do I self report December scores when I completed a November app.

On your November application, you will put the score you currently have. That’s the self reporting part. If your SAT increases, you likely will need to reach out to admissions and ask them what to do. Probably they will want an official score sent.

This varies by school. Generally if the school allows for self reporting (most do), they will allow updates by self reporting via the applicant’s portal or email to admissions. Exceptions might be where the timing is tight, with an admissions decision date approaching in the near term. OP will just have to check by school not only how to report any new test scores, but what is the latest test one can take for ED/EA/RD. If this info is not on the website, OP can send an email to admissions and ask.

Thank God I’ll save my time and my sat scores to December.

So I can just ignore that part and take the gamble on whichever sounds th best right?

I am at Amherst avg sat score but not even at browns 25 percentile.

Amherst’s most recent CDS (class of 2028) shows an SAT 25%-75% range of 1500-1560. 39% of the class submitted an SAT, 22% an ACT.

Separately, for Brown ED, testing must be complete with the Oct test date.

I did not take an English proficiency test, will my admission rate be affected by this?

I was told by someone that it is important to write ielts.

My school instructs in English though.

I think

Most people who got good scores only must have submitted them.

If I do apply Amherst i don’t think I should submit my SAT

Thank you.
