Are these Universities good enough for an International seeking low contribution? [3.78 GPA, rank 1]

Why Reed? This is most definitely a “fit” college. What makes you think it’s the right place for you?

Same with Bard. It is very much a fit school, and we know a few very recent graduates and have been there more than a few times. Why Bard!

Uconn applying by november 1 to scholarship

I’m a CT resident. What scholarship do you think you will get at UConn that will bring your costs to an affordable place?

They mailed me an invitation to apply to stamps scholarship

Please acknowledge my marks, I think these will change how you view my universities. My ranking scales are diverse.

Why do you think this? At many colleges, financial aid for accepted EA students is actually awarded at about the same time as for regular decision students.

I thought first come first serve basis.

Everyone can apply for a Stamps scholarship. BUT everyone does NOT receive one who applies.

What do you know about UConn…or what do you want to know?

I’m going to be a little harsh with my next comment.

You have said you wouldn’t qualify for IIT. That being the case, I can’t imagine you would get a Stamps Scholarship as they are very highly competitive awards….at all colleges that award the Stamps. IOW, the Stamps is awarded to very tippy top students. Ones who have been very tippy top all of high school.

But apply and see…

Financial aid is not usually awarded on a first come first served basis. There are some colleges where those who apply first are considered for MERIT aid first…(e.g. University of Pittsburgh). But that is nit the norm.

My kids graduated from college in 2007 and 2010. Both did all but one of their applications by October 15. The earliest they received their merit awards (no need based) was January, with most of their colleges sending the awards even later.

You provide the scale for your school and your state as indicated above by % who achieve that nationally or state wide (board) or in school.

You can offer an approximate unweighted GPA where A1 A2 B1 = 4, B2 C1 C2= 3.

Most colleges will use the scale I indicated (% nationally who get this score on board exams) but an approximation could help some.

Stamps isn’t related to grades. It’s related to out of school extraordinary achievement.

EA may help international students get financial aid but most importantly may be the ONLY round you have a chance at a sufficient scholarship.
The exception is at meed need colleges.

As noted numerous times on this thread…at many colleges, the deadline for submitting an application for admission to be considered for their scholarships is an early one, and often coincides with the EA deadline.

But this does not mean that you have a better chance of getting a scholarship than the others who submit within that deadline. It simply means…if you want to be considered for these scholarships, you MUST adhere to the application deadline (and in some cases there is also a scholarship application you must submit by that deadline).

We’re over 400 posts into this thread now, and at this point, I’m not sure there’s much left to say or any new advice to offer that hasn’t already been shared.

@Ihopethebest, my sincere suggestion to you: you have a lot of work ahead of you. Instead of spending your time continuously posting on this thread, it may be far more productive to focus your energy on the following:

  • Completing your 40 applications. That’s going to be a lot of work!

  • Ensuring your grades don’t suffer

  • Developing a realistic Plan B (something achievable and likely, since your Plan A of coming to the US carries a low probability)

Best wishes with your applications.

Except for a few Regular Decision schools, both of my kids applied Early Action and completed their applications well before the deadline (I recall they finished submitting to all EA schools by early October), since their high school counselors needed time to package letters of recommendation and submit transcripts.

OP needs to focus on one or two applications and get them done as soon as possible. In addition to coordinating with the high school to send official transcripts and LORs, OP will also need to write essays, which take time and usually require several rounds of edits before submission.

Personally, I think applying to U.S. schools should be OP’s plan B. There will be only a few seats available for international students, and if OP needs financial aid, most schools will not be able to meet that need.

I just checked the list of Stamps winners at UIUC and Florida. Every single one of the current 19 UIUC Stamps scholars are from Illinois. Florida awards 2-3 Stamps a year and most of them live in Florida, but not a single international winner currently.

So while you can still roll the dice and apply at both of these schools, the the likelihood of getting this scholarship is pretty much zero.

I’m not doing this to be mean, but hopefully this helps you understand the situation better.

delete - answered by others on Stamps - that yes, you are eligible but there might be so few that you have better odds at Amherst - and that’s not good odds at all.

School dependent.

Stop over analyzing.

Start doing.

I think in this case “fit” is I can go there for $12K or less.

@Ihopethebest you need to apply to Bard EA.

Bard guarantees to meet full demonstrated financial need for all students admitted via the Early Decision I, the Immediate Decision Plan or the Early Action application rounds

Reed College is proud to expand access to our distinctive liberal arts education through a new initiative for international students. Beginning with the fall 2026 entering class, Reed intends to offer full-tuition scholarships to two students from each continent .

Reed meets 100 percent of the demonstrated need of all admitted students, international or domestic, for all four years.

I am back at the beginning, I am extremely confused on what schools I should even apply to in the EA… Everything has a twist uprooting to ruin my entire chances. Deadline is in 5 days.

I appreciate you guys listing so many universities, but they have become so much I don’t even know if they’ll work

I can’t seem to shortlist universities for EA.

I need help please. It is too much to ask.

So I am abandoning Umiami too, I thought I could be eligible for stamps.

Here’s an idea.

The schools that meet need, are not need aware - the W&Ls, Bowdoin, Gtown, etc. - get those done NOW. Also, do the Johnson essay.

Do Southern Miss. Do Minot State.

Get those 12 done, then come back.

You need to start making progress instead of wondering about everyone.

Forget the next SAT.

You need to get something done - NOW - and this is a start because you know they will be a part of the 40.

Get the app in - then you can work on the aid form.
