Are these universities good for degrees in Psychology or Nursing?

<p>I’m looking for colleges with good psychology and nursing programs. I’ve received letters of interest from the following colleges. I need professional opinion on whether these universities are any good for Nursing or Psychology </p>

<p>Binghamton University
Fairleigh Dickinson University
Fordham University
Geneseo College
Hofstra University
Marist College
Muhlenberg College
New York Institute of Technology
Penn State
Quinnipiac University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rutgers New Brunswick
Stony Brook University
University of Chicago
University of Pittsburgh </p>

<p>Also, I realize that Chicago and Rensselaer are above my academic standards, but they have been harassing me with letters, so they must see something in me. Either that, or they’re trying to plump up their selectivity rating. Thank you for your help :D</p>

<p>You really ought to do a little research yourself. Muhlenberg does not even have a nursing degree. Pitt has a very good medical program in many areas, according to friends who have kids there.</p>

<p>RPI does not have nursing.
Please tell me you haven’t compiled a list of colleges based on which ones sent you marketing materials…Those are sent out blindly by marketing firms hired by the colleges to drive up the numbers of applicants.
If you want find schools that meet your requirements use a good college search engine and put in both intended majors as well as any other criteria (location, size, selectivity etc.) that will narrow it down.</p>

<p>If you want to be a nurse, Monroe Community College, Rochester NY, can prepare you to become RN in two years.

<p>Most of your schools on the list, if they have a nursing department, require you to study 4 years for RN.</p>

<p>Muhlenberg College is better for a future doctor, like someone else mentioned they do not have a nursing school. u of pittsburgh is a great all around school (as is muhlenberg, rpi, chicago, etc…) you can not go wrong with any of the schools you list as long as they have your major.</p>

<p>Many of the schools on your list do not have nursing but if psychology is a good alternative major for you then they likely all have that option. Go online and check out each one out and think about what you want to study (there is a huge difference between studying nursing and psychology). </p>

<p>And just so you know Chicago sent my D tons and tons of material although the school would have been a mega-reach – sorry to say the letters don’t mean the school wants you, it just means you got on a mailing list somehow. It would be a mistake to use them as a basis to determine where you want to apply.</p>
