Are two recs. really better than one?

Does it really increase your chances if colleges say to send in one and says nothing about a second one?

No, especially if the second doesn’t add anything to your application (i.e. show a different side of you that the 1st rec doesn’t show) In fact, some schools discourage the submission of additional recs.

CDN_dancer is correct. Rule we followed was give the college what it asks for too much will not help and may hurt.

If it adds to the App, SEND IT IN. If it doesn’t, it hurts, but it’s not like it’s worse than getting 100 points lower on the SAT or something.

If it benefits, send it in. The point of supplementary materials is if it in itself is a unique piece of the app that without it, the app would not be as interesting or good. If you’re app feels little better as a whole after it, then dont send it
