Is it true that some public universities automatically admit veterans?

Not really automatic but vast majority of states require preferential treatment for veterans for admission who are residents of the state; for example resident veterans are listed first in preference in California for UC’s over all other residents. Note that it does not mean automatic admission but it certainly creates a strong factor in the veteran’s favor. Add to that the fact that most colleges, even if not required to, consider it a favorable factor to admission that you are veteran because that usually indicates some maturity and the ability to commit to the work required.
