Basically as the title says. I will change all the personal info like name/number/address/etc, but would really like the input and criticism of the more knowledgeable and experienced people on here.
We strongly discourage posting essays due to possible problems with copycats and plagiarism checkers. I can;t say that I see a similar problem with posting a resume, although the layout & formatting won’t come through, and I;m not sure what you hope to gain that is outside the scope of people commenting on your grades, scores & ECs. I don’t see anything in the ToS against it, so … up to you.
Well I was gonna post a imgur link. Basically was hoping to see if there was any information I should take out/add, any mistakes (grammar), etc.
Isn’t imgur blocked?
Edit: Yes, it is. Don’t try to spell around the filter, either, so that’s not the way to go.
So imgur [whatever the heck that is] is not the way to go, but I’m not hearing any objections to the general concept of posting a resume [not that I’ve ever understood what a college applicant “resume” adds to the process].
@AboutTheSame Imgur is a photo hosting site intended for use with Reddit. OP appears to already be a college student and may be talking about a resume for the goal of getting internships. I don’t know how they would share such a thing, given that we can’t upload documents like PDFs and most photo-sharing sites are going to be blocked by the filter. They could write out the text, I guess, and people could give suggestions on the content, but a big part of a resume is presentation and that would be lost in sharing the resume plaintext. I dunno. I feel like this isn’t a great site for it.
@Noteworthy Does your university have a career center? Mine does resume reviewing.
@bodangles : There I go making incorrect assumptions again. Thanks for the tutorial. Seriously.
@Noteworthy : Consulting the career center is a very good suggestion. If you want to PM your resume to me, I’d be happy to take a look at it, but I’m law and resumes in other fields are not my specialty (to say the least, since I didn’t even know what Imgur was – and who named it that & why? It sounds like the name for a Swedish au pair. Never mind. I’ll Google it.).
Edit: Oh, I see, it’s Im-jur. Typical millenial. No phonetics. Joking.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
It’s not against Terms of Service, but it’s a bad idea for the reasons given.
Yup.
OP can ask for feedback from users and PM the link (might need to spell-around). The challenge for the user is only to send it to members who have been around for a while and can be trusted, like the 2 above, if they agreed.
As does mine. This is a really good idea.
