Are you a subject matter expert and want to have that be reflected on College Confidential?
Do you want to start a dedicated expert AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) in which to share your expertise and answer questions from students and parents?
Send me a PM and we’ll work to have you vetted.
We have recently vetted our first expert. @Catcherinthetoast is a now a vetted “Investment Banking Expert” and this designation shows next to his username when he posts.
Thank you! I’m always happy to help folks who are interested in the speech language pathology profession. It’s paying it forward in a very significant and helpful way.
I would suggest @DadOfJerseyGirl be contacted. He previously ran a great AMA.
While they are also great generalist posters @hebegebe@ChoatieMom@Mwfan1921@blossom@MaineLonghorn all have unique and specific areas of expertise. Not to put them on the spot but I personally learn from them (and others) and wanted to make sure they were aware of this way to support CC.
I wouldn’t claim expertise in any area, just general knowledge from experience in a few, same as hundreds of posters here, but thanks, @Catcherinthetoast.
@AustenNut has taken the lead and we will be working together on recognizing and celebrating specific communities and heritage months. I’ll post an announcement about this these upcoming days, but wanted to ask you @MaineLonghorn if you are interested in doing a dedicated AMA for Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 18-24) or Autism Awareness Month (perhaps broaden to Neurodiversity) in April. Let us know and @AustenNut and I will start planning. We’re happy to have anyone else involved if there is interest.
I was thinking that perhaps we should maybe get some people for an AMA for grad school. There are a number of posters with PhDs who are still in academia or recently were and can provide advice on the topic. I think that @Shelby_Balik, @collegemom3717, @NiceUnparticularMan, and @worriedmomucb have that experience (though I may be wrong) and have given great advice, and I’m certain that there are more who I cannot remember. There are really no such things as full experts in PhD admissions, since these differ between disciplines and programs, but there are some things that are basic for admissions to PhD programs that are not well known outside of academia.
I’m sure that they will forgive me for putting their names here…
Maybe there are also members who are experts in admissions to MD and JD programs, and perhaps MBA programs.
