I’m staring out the window at a foot and a half of snow with forecasts of more to come tonight. The winds are blowing strongly and gusting to over 50 mph. Roads are closed, schools are closed, and it is a mess. But looking at the weather picture across much of the US, I see hail and severe thunder storms and tornadoes. I just saw a severe storm watch for Berurah’s area.

So I’m wondering… are you seeing frightful weather where you are?

Wow, dig. I can’t imagine! Haven’t looked at any national weather reports, and had no idea it was snowing anywhere. It’s been in the upper 70s here. Heard that later this week we might get some rain, which would be welcome. But wow.

It has been a really weird year for weather - colder here on Easter than on Christmas. We had been saying that it was the first time in the 21 years (minus 3) that we lived in Georgia that it hadn’t snowed at all. Not a flake. Not even the annual ice storm. Then, the Friday following Easter we heard that some snow fell in the wee hours. We were out of town, so missed it. That’s been the sum total of the snow here this year, and it came in April!

I don’t know a soul in Colorado. No one. My son drove through the state the last time he came home to visit us. He said it was beautiful. Whenever they have new story about Colorado I think, ‘Digmedia lives there.’
I don’t spend much time here on C.C. but it’s gotten to the point that if I know where people live I think of them (or their ghost) whenever there is a new story about their state.
True.

By the way 2 make it TWO beautiful days in a row here in my town!

From what I’ve seen of Colorado, it’s a very wild country with extremes of weather in Spring and Fall, deep snows in winter.Defintitely a state for outdoorsy and hardy folks. Like the guy who built his own log cabin home. You know, like the little pig, house out of sticks.

Wait a minute, don’t you Colorado people have some problems with drought? This Spring snowstorm may be a Godsend!

I flew from LAX to BDL in CT today. For once I made a good flight decision and flew through Chicago…turns out there were terrible storms in Dallas and flights routed through Dallas were all messed up. Beautiful weather in CA (of course) and nice weather in CT. The travel gods smiled on me today…I’m still in shock.

Dig…don’t have that system here yet but it has been crazy weather here in Vermont. All of April was SNOWY until this week. Then, yesterday it was 80 degrees (which is like as hot as our summers usually are). The snow on my lawn was melting by the minute. Then, last night, for about a half hour, very strong winds and rain passed through that were really howling at the house. Today, we found a big tree that snapped and fell down across our dirt driveway and have to get someone with a chainsaw to chop it up and move it. Just another day. Luckily, none of these things are bad as in some parts of the country but it sure gets interesting.

We had our terrible weather last weekend. County ended up being declared a disaster area. Luckily all we got was a little water in our basement for the first time in seven years in this house.

Was gonna answer this post and then saw that you already knew! ;)

We’re pretty used to the volatile tornado-y spring weather here, but this spring has been particularly odd with regard to weather. We’ve gone from snow(!) to rain to super high winds. Kinda makes me wonder what the rest of the season will bring…

Hope things get better for you out there soon, dig.

It rained last weekend here and even snowed a bit in the mountains around here. It usually quits raining for the season (6-7 months) and is usually warmer by now so this was unusual weather. It’s probably the same weather that’s sweeping through Colorado and points east about now. It’s back to really great weather again here now - I had to put the top down in the old Mustang today.

I remember a huge, late (I think April) snowstorm when I lived in Colorado Springs that knocked out power for several days, closed schools for about a week, and brought the place to a standstill. This was around the late 60’s and was the worst storm in the 6.5 years I lived there. There can really be some unusual weather there although all-in-all it’s usually not that bad.

We had 80’s over the weekend, now it’s “only” in the high 50’s-low 60’s- the spring blooming bulbs are in great color, and the magnolia (one of those northern ones, not too tall) is in full bloom… yardwork nearly done (cleanup and new mulch), my mood is vastly improved over around 2 weeks ago when we got about 5" of snow (which hurt some of the early blooming daffodils but melted so I could get rid of leaves 2 days later…). You, too, will survive the weather. In recent years temps have been higher than they used to be around here- I remember people saying you missed summer if you blinked, there were so few hot days; now I value the air conditioner so much more. So, no, no violent storms here, the weather has been gorgeous, the rain even came at night. Living through so many cold, snowy winters and cool summers it’s a well deserved treat.
