Are you going to watch the Oscars this year?

I find it amusing that James Franco was on the soap General Hospital (my mothers favoirte show, and she has repeated it to me several times) this week and now he is doing the academy awards!

I always do, but this year I’m not feeling it. ABC has hyped it to death. I’ll watch Amazing Race and then flip over, I guess.

I’m going to watch it too this year…haven’t the last couple of years.
I wonder whether Helena Bonham Carter will show up in another outrageous goth-like get up. Maybe this time she’ll at least having matching shoes.

I will watch it but have the remote close at hand for quick channel changes.

QLM

tired tonight. Will watch the red carpet parts for my fix of Fashion Smut, but will probably not last to far into the program.

We are EST. Is the broadcast delayed for PST?

arrivals live here, though the camera is a bit jerky.

I don’t think so. Most “live” events are taped-delayed on the west coast, but the Oscar telecast always starts pretty early in the evening out here - 5:00 or 5:30 PM. So it may actually be live.

I am also sticking with The Amazing Race and will flip over to see what everyone’s wearing… the best part. : -)

red carpet is on here now ( 7PM ish) and husband is pretty sure I am insane to be watching it. He has a point.

I’m watching the red carpet now and going to an Oscar party in a bit. I love the Oscars. I don’t think the best film will win because I don’t think they’ll give it to Toy Story 3. My second choice - The King’s Speech. I’m still dumbfounded how The Black Swan could be nominated for anything, with the exception of Mila Kunis.

Helen Mirren looks fabulous…love the dress.

I either watch it live or on VCR/DVR every year. This year’s lineup looks good.

This may sounds like an awful question on this night, but
What is the Black Swan about?

“A ballet dancer wins the lead in “Swan Lake” and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan - Princess Odette - but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like Odile, the Black Swan.”

I don’t know what the deal is, but the pace is positively glacial and way too affected! I’ve already turned it off. I’ll check in here to hear who wins or ready the paper in the morning.

HMoG, I thought they would never get Kirk Douglas off the stage! I wish they wouldn’t have had him made that presentation … it was just sad and uncomfortable.

I thought Kirk saved the show. A real human moment.

Well, I think that Kirk is part of the family. So it is like inviting an elderly uncle to Thanksgiving: you love him and accept that he is now slower and less inhibited than he was before.

edit: cross posted with Youdon’tsay

Thanks Mafool. I was a bit impatient with Kirk Douglas, but the occasional “you know…” is cute.

What is up with Christian Bales’ beard? Such a different color from his hair.
