<p>I’ll admit it - I have strong feelings of interpersonal attraction for Harvard University. I’d go into more detail, but I think I might get banned for inappropriate conduct.</p>

<p>I’m emotionally neutered, so perhaps the term “love” is a little to strong to describe how I feel towards Harvard. However, I have managed to form a strong attraction towards the school’s many positive offerings, including the ability to cross-register at MIT, the ability to take courses at the graduate schools, the vibrancy and passion of its undergraduate class–many of whom I have met via social networking sites like Facebook–and its proximity to a city with >200,000 other undergraduates.</p>
<p>I’m worried about the fact that I can envisage myself “loving” Yale, but I’m not sure if I’ll only “appreciate” Harvard. </p>

<p>Monochrome, I just checked out that site. First time. Clearly, 90+% of the people on the Harvard thread are ■■■■■■. This is where anonymousness gets you on well-known subjects. 4chan-esque</p>
<p>Thank God. Perhaps I should be more selective when being informed of a website regarded as ‘extensive sources of college info’ by my mate.</p>
<p>My D “fell in love” with Harvard after she visited. It seemed like the perfect place for her. The campus was nice, the town is nice, the classes she attended were awesome, and the students seemed nice. She came to the visit expecting to hate it and left loving it. Prestige had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately she was waitlisted.</p>

<p>^^ Well, she hated Stanford and most of the other ivies except Yale which she loved. The only other college that came close to her love of Harvard and Yale was Northwestern. </p>
<p>What I find funny is the number of people who ‘hate’ Harvard because it is “#1”.</p>

<p>Nothing unusual about that. Being regarded as #1 paints a big target on your back. Harvard, The NY Yankees, Nike, Walmart, Microsoft, California, and The United States of America all have legions of people of who detest them just on general principles. To get this type of scorn you don’t have to actually BE #1; you just have to be regarded as #1.</p>
<p>I don’t think people hate Harvard because it’s #1; I think they hate the sense of entitlement and the aura of prestige that oozes from the pores of many Crimson faithful. </p>
<p>Unless you go to Yale. In which case, you probably do hate Harvard.</p>
