Has anyone actually thought of what they would do if they weren’t accepted to any of your schools of choice? Would you go back to your public school, or live forever in a box.

What if you were accepted? Would you scream the loudest you ever have?

I’ve been thinking this through quite a lot.

I’ll be skipping Earth Science (taking the labs with my mother and the regents in August) and instead taking Dual Credit Chemistry a year early, in 10th grade. This is so I can have 4 Regents science courses after junior year, plus AP Bio in senior.

I will take Graphic Design, then Drawing and Painting, then Graphic Design again for my portfolio for college. (I plan on minoring in art, majoring in psychology).

Geometry then Algebra II (the only math courses offered) in math.

Honors English 10, then Honors English 11, then the regents, then English 101 (the senior course).

I’ll take Spanish III, take the regents, then IV.

I’ll continue with Band, probably making first chair oboe for All County next year (second chair this year) and hopefully making All State again. Continue with drama, too. And volunteering. And Envirothon. And dying my hair and rebellious piercing my lip or some such other expression of just how unfulfilled I am here.

(I spent a whole day thinking about this today. I was finally told I could skip Earth Science.)

well, i think the chances are pretty slim for me so I’m not planning to “live in a box” i’ve got a really nice set of classes that i’ve registered for next year and even if I don’t get in, I’ll still be pretty happy with myself.

Well, my classes are pretty much decided if I have to stay at my present school… but I plan on taking a lot more leadership roles/ community service

I like to think on the bright side. I have not contemplated the idea of me being rejected everywhere. I would probably live in a hole for the rest of my life.

I feel my stats are decent enough to get into at least 1 of the 8 schools I applied to, it wasn’t as if I had eight TSAO school as my only options.

keeping the faith is helping me through–my faith is christian but, im not trying to force anything on anyone. i feel like my spirit has been calmed, not all I have to do is wait…

I think the most important thing is knowing that whether you get in or not it is not of your own doing…

Sorry if I offended anyone, just my personal opinions–everyone will end up where they are meant to be.

Well, I’d be heartbroken the first week or so - it’s unavoidable! But after that, I’d move on. There is life after boarding school, and you can’t honestly know if you would have thrived there or not.

If I get in, I’ll be psyched. No, BEYOND psyched. I would flip, man. Like, I can 100% assure all of you that you do NOT want to be in a 10-mile radius of me when and if that happens.

Of course, I only applied to two schools; Exeter and Andover. So the odds of acceptance are against me, but we’ll see!

I can’t believe March 10th is so close… it’s one of things that feels like it will never come.

Some days I think “I have this, that and the other - how could they NOT accept me!”, and then other days I think “Ahh, I’m missing this, that score is a little low, and I don’t have any of that!”

It seems to be a guessing game. You can’t REALLY forecast what they’re wanting for this year. Maybe they’re low on girls’ ice hockey defenseman, and are in desperate need for some. If that’s the case, and you happen to be quite a seasoned one, than you can consider yourself in (well, not literally, but it certainly helps!)!

What about you? Do you feel confident? Where are you applying?

I only applied to two, Andover and Choate. I feel somewhat confident but as of today a weight has been lifted and I feel like I can breathe easy until March 10th…(even though I need to find things to occupy my time). Like you my confidence has been on and off but today I woke up with all of the pressure off of my chest. I jst want to get in so bad ughh. I feel like when you send off your materials, it’s literally like stuffing yourself (or your whole life and who you are) into an envelope and sending it to 12-15 people to read and determine if you have that special something that they want. If they reject you I do kinda feel like it is a rejection of you–and this is where the pressure comes in…it’s just a big pressured proccess…

I wholeheartedly, completely, fully agree with ‘stuffing yourself into an envelope to be judged’. It truly is insane. If they reject you, it’s not like they’re just rejecting your grades or SSAT, they’re rejecting your essay, short answers, teachers recs, artistic portfolios, coach recs, interview… everything ‘you’ that extends beyond numbers - and frankly it can be pretty tough!

I think everyone has a right to a week-long vacation with 10 psychotherapy sessions entailing said vacation.
