The combine coverage is hilarious. Some of the prospects seem not to have prepared at all by doing test runs/lifts. That is as much a sign as their performance.
Some other (hilarious) stuff:
Lol.
I think the league knows that they’re not going to come out looking good in this, so they’re going to stretch it out and then try to bury it. Afternoon of Good Friday anyone? Or Memorial Day weekend? Or maybe even Friday, July 3?
At this point, Roger is probably thinking, why oh why didn’t I take the blue pill (“the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe”). Instead he took the red pill and hired Ted Wells, and eventually we may find out how deep the rabbit hole goes.
@BunsenBurner, that story is pretty funny!
If he doesn’t trade mark it others will be out there with hats and t-shirts emblazoned with that phrase and people will think they are his. In no way do I think he said that out of some marketing strategy, but it makes sense to protect his personal brand after the fact since that phrase seems to have caught fire.
It’s not like he’s going to try to stop people from saying it . . . just using it for merch
UConn CB Byron Jones apparently set the world record for standing broad jump at the combine.
Who even knew that was a thing?
Not sure how that translates to on-the-field performance, but good for him!
Of course, saintfan. The easiest way to prove “use in commerce” is to sell a few tees. Heck, I know some folks who will buy it! It is just a funny phrase to try to trademark.
Bummer for Katie though - her copyright on the left shark does not look solid at al.
Did she try? Katy’s “people” may have invented the shark suit but they didn’t invent the “Left Shark” identity or name.
Lol BB.
Well there you go!

The NFL has already had to fire one employee for unethical behavior in this incident. It’s quite clear that they have to navigate an exit strategy for their VP of Operations, Mike Kensil. His behavior in this case (including the sting, tampering with the Patriots footballs during a game, and the numerous leaks) make it impossible for him to continue in his position. That’s a pretty high level dismissal/resignation.
If Grigson and the Colts tampered with a Patriots game ball during the AFC championship game, there could be sanctions.
And, we do not yet know if the officials performed their ball inspection responsibilities before the game properly. Did, for example, they actually measure the PSI of all 36 game balls. What were they doing when an unauthorized person (Kensil) was tampering with the game balls at halftime?
Long term, it’s not completely clear that Goodell can continue in his position over the long haul if he has lost the support of Robert Kraft, although that is not something that will be dealt with in the Wells report (unlike the immediate issues above). Kraft did not attend the commissioner’s SuperBowl news conference and avoided him on the podium during the SuperBowl trophy ceremony. No Patriots representative participated in the Scouting Combine press availabilities.
The cringe-news of the day is a story floating around that there’s a video of Dez Bryant doing something “very bad” and “They say the video is so bad it’s “five times worse than the Ray Rice video and that his “football career is in jeopardy.” The Cowboys continue to claim that no such video exists but if the rumors are true and the video gets released to the public, it could have a seismic impact on the NFL.” It’s all a rumor and I wouldn’t say anything except this is just a discussion board with a limited audience. Adam Schefter now says a video exist but won’t (can’t?) give details so it’s still just a rumor.
I hope for his sake that Dez wasn’t filmed playing a football that was 1.5 pounds under-inflated. That would be the end of his career for sure.
^ The article I read said the video is in the hands of “former friends” of Bryant, and stills from the video have been sent to various media outlets to get a bidding war going for it.
Bryant tweeted that he is not “embarrassed” by any incidents in his past. The whole thing seems a bit shady.
It’s looking like the Bryant situation is much ado about nothing: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/police-report-related-rumored-dez-153913938.html
And the Cowboys’ just confirmed that they’re planning to put the franchise tag on him, so they don’t seem worried about it: http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story/dallas-cowboys-dez-bryant-jerry-jones-franchise-tag-stephen-jones-022815
Meanwhile (sorry, I can’t resist), “Resilient Tom Brady Critics Already Looking Ahead to Next Season”:

The Pats just wrapped up their 14th consecutive winning season. I believe the next best winning streak in the NFL is the Green Bay Packers with 6 consecutive winning seasons.
It’s easy to understand the league-wide hatred of the Pats. Over the last 14 years, they have dashed a lot of hopes and dreams for NFL owners, coaches, players, and fans.
Um, no. That’s not why.
I still get a kick out of watching Marshall Faulk’s sour grapes, fourteen years later.
The Raiders (1965-1980) and 49ers (1983-1998) both had 16 year stretches. I think it is feasible that the Patriots can match or pass this.
The longest stretch in NFL history belongs to the Cowboys - 20 years (1966-1985). Got a ways to go to reach that, and will require another qb and most likely another coach. So tying or breaking this record remains a long shot.
The saddest thing I found when looking this stuff up - in 90+ years of existence, one team’s longest streak of 7+ win seasons (7!) is only 4 years. In 80+ years since playoffs started, this team has played in only 14 playoff games. Ladies and gentlemen: your Arizona Cardinals.
And the Detroit Lions are just barely ahead with a longest streak of 7+ wins of only 5 years, and that was back in the 30’s. I have more sympathy for my relatives in Detroit now.
