@saintfan - that’s one of the reasons I secretly hope the “Little Brother” thing never goes away. I know a lot of spartans feel like we’re living in Michigan’s shadow, but I kind of like being underestimated- both on the field and off.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but i never really felt that Michigan was superior. Even when they had gardner. I’ve always had a soft spot for Florida…maybe it was Tim Tebow :)

Ah, it seems that you are a senior in high school (no negative connotation whatsoever, I was just trying to see your age as you mention Gardner).

Historically, Michigan is a powerhouse. It is only really in the last decade or so that MSU has overtaken Michigan.

I’ve had an attraction to the MSU Spartans going way back, because the first college game I attended was a Spartans-Washington game at Husky Stadium at the dawn of civilization. Of course I have to root for the hometown Huskies but I do root for MSU, especially when they play Notre Dame.

Hey Saintfan, what’s this I hear about the NFL enforcing new rules to give an advantage to receivers, because the bigwigs were unhappy about the way the Seahawks secondary manhandled the Denver Shetland Ponies in the Super Bowl?

Hahahahahaaaa!! They are testing that rule and nobody is happy because there are so many flags that the games go too slowly. They may not keep that rule after the competition meeting happens. Denver actually had more trouble with in that Seattle. It was kind of fun to see Welker get flagged for setting a pick, though.

yeah I guess I would be too young to appreciate Michigan of old @romanigypsyeyes

Eddie Lacy, saintfan!!

Emenya: you are right. :)

Go Pack!

After last night I’m feeling pretty good about this season. I know that Chicago has no defense but really the fact that Jay Cutler was on the field was almost an afterthought. I hardly noticed him. It was as if the Seahawks were playing their own game and the opponent was incidental. No fouls either other than a funky call that was a continuation of a roll on an offensive block?? That is a legal block but where they are stricter about not seeming to roll up on a guys legs. In this case there was no roll, but whatever . . . it was a clean game and not the flag-fest that people seemed to be predicting.

So any opinions about the latest pronouncement that Cleveland might run a modest 2 quarter back system with some “packages” for Manziel? That just seems like the Tebow “distraction” all over again. I don’t see how any good can come from that in terms of team moral or leadership. It seems like any extra yards gained wouldn’t be worth the pain and suffering.

Uh, oh… B.J. Raji out for the season.

I hate preseason games for just this reason.

:(

Dang! But as a D lineman if you tear a biceps tendon in 7 downs it’s likely that it would have torn anyway in a week or two or at practice. I guess anything is possible but I can’t think of a way to do that w/o pre-existing fraying or something - unlike an ankle getting rolled up on or that type of injury.

It’s the special teams injuries that get me. You’ve got young guys trying to do something eye opening on special teams so as not to get cut on Tuesday and they go hard.

Preseason ( as it was explained to me) is actually to get them game ready.
Playing against their teammates aren’t subjecting them to the same stressors as regular season, so preseason games ease them into it.

I agree with you completely @emeraldkity4 .

Also I think the Browns should just keep Hoyer as starter (they were really doing special things before he was lost for the season) and just let Johnny hold the clipboard until he’s mature enough to wear the big boy pants

The best of all possible worlds . . . the starts align in the most beautiful ways sometimes! =))

Welker got a concussion again. It’s time for his career to end before he ends up like a vegetable. Manning was ticked off and said some bad words to the player to who hit Welker but the hit looked clean to me even though a flag was thrown.

I haven’t watched it but the announcers during the SF game said that Welker lowered his head and was hit with a shoulder. Welker is no stranger to setting blind side picks, though, so he really has nothing to talk about.

Here’s the video - Welker puts his head down and does a tuck thing and it hit with the forearms.

Go Pack!
And where can I get that fabulous bucket hat Eddie Lacy was wearing during Friday night’s preseason game?

BJ Raji’s loss is bad, but at least Aaron Rodgers is healthy (…knock on wood…)

If we could just get Case Keenum to start…
