Are you ready for some football?

Well, this is still doable for the Broncos, but it’s a very tall order. As dejected as they already look on the sideline, i think it’s over.

Is Manning sick, or does he have a shoulder injury or something? So many of his passes have been so far off the mark.

Well, boo.

Guess it’s on to the Golden Globes.

We could be watching the last two minutes of Payton Manning’s career.

That was a terrible game. I don’t know what it is with Manning, it is not just that he struggles in the postseason, it’s that every part of the team struggles in the postseason! No part of the Broncos did a genuinely good job today, and the Colts were firing on all cylinders!

Awesome job Colts…Love the Stanford/Colts connection - Andrew Luck, Coby Fleener, Delano Howell, and Pep Hamilton. Ironic that perhaps Luck, a graduate of the Manning Passing Academy, may have beaten a mentor in his final game.

Manning is old and injured and not a God after all. I, too, love the Luck to Fleener connection. It will be interesting to see if he rethinks coming back. He had said that he would but he has really been showing his age the last part of the season.

Cosmicfish and Anxious om1, I agree with you. The team had no zip and Manning sure didn’t look as if he was enjoying the game. Which makes two of us.

Well . . . onward and over to the college thread for tomorrow. It’s been fun!

Not loving the mountain man look.

No, but if it helps him beat Brady I’m all for it!

Anybody needing a virtual couch to sleep on tonight before heading to Jerry World tomorrow is welcome to my family room. It’s a tad messy after today’s games, but my roomba will be getting all the popcorn and tortilla chip crumbs during the night. Don’t let him wake you.

The game was so sad, especially in the waning moments. And watching the press conference felt so sad. I just want him to play forever.

As long as there will be the virtual Monday morning coffee cart I’m in! I’m busy trying to talk myself out of Downton Abbey. My plan is to get a week behind so that I can watch it at a civilized time, but it’s so hard.

Saintfan, along with the Monday coffee cart, I will (just for you) spill old-time Seahawks stuff. Like who I sat next to I class…

Dang . . . bad Monday morning news. Paul Richardson tore his ACL :frowning: He’s such a nice kid and was really coming along.

I don’t find the Manning thing to be sad. He’s the one who refused to retire gracefully. He and Elway had the idea that he deserved another Super Bowl win and the whole nation thought it was destiny last year, career capping and all that. People thought that Sherman was being mean when he said that Manning can throw up some ducks and he’d be looking to intercept. People acted as if his footballs were somehow super brain powered guided missiles. Well they weren’t and they’re worse this year because age is a thing and he’s injured and let ego get in the way of reality.

For whatever reason the Denver team seems to be build with a bunch of mercenaries who aren’t playing for each other and aren’t helping him out any more than he’s helping them. They definitely have a case of the dropsies (except that little blonde guy who has the heart of a lion) and Manning doesn’t seem to inspire them to greatness. Watching the GB / Dallas game both teams really dug deep and battled as a team. GB has always done that and you just see Rogers kick it into a different gear. Romo seemed to have finally grown into that this season when you could see them ramp up the intensity as a team. Denver (like San Francisco) plays much morse than the sum of their talent. I think it’s time for Manning to go do Wrangler ads with Favre or something. I just hope he doesn’t become a color commentator, I’m not sure I could stand that.

Really? He was the league MVP last year, and finished second in TD’s this year even with faltering down the stretch. Whether or not he has post-season problems (and he does) and whether or not the team failed to come together (it did), it seems odd to me to declare that he should have retired unless you can think of another, better quarterback out there who deserves the starting spot in Denver. Manning is on the decline for sure, and other stars are definitely rising, but until he is the 33rd best quarterback in the NFL there will be and should be a job for him!

^Agreed. It’s hard to fathom kicking a guy for hanging around too long immediately after making it to the Superbowl and being league MVP. What a bum.

I was rooting for Peyton even though 2 SB rings to 1 is the only bragging point my own QB has over his big brother.
