Are you ready for some March Madness!!!!

The UW-UA game last night was way too stressful. I was at a fundraising event that had been scheduled moths ago, but fortunately the game was on in the bar and everyone went in and watched the last few minutes of regulation and then overtime. It is a happy day in Wisconsin. The bittersweet aspect for Bo Ryan makes it even more gratifying.

in shock

Very sad day.

The bitter part of me wants Michigan to get crushed so I don’t have to listen to gloating for the next week or so.
(Sparty at U of M problems.)

The rational part of me wants Michigan to win because Wisconsin/Michigan will be a great game.

The bitter part of me is winning right now. It’ll calm itself down.

I read on twitter (so who knows how reliable) that UCONN is the only 2nd #7 seed to reach the Final Four…crazy and beyond proud! Even if we get knocked out next round…lol which is likely.

<a href=“For Wisconsin, Student-Athlete Is Not an Oxymoron in N.C.A.A. Tournament - The New York Times”>For Wisconsin, Student-Athlete Is Not an Oxymoron in N.C.A.A. Tournament - The New York Times;

Interesting angle. How different is this story from the past ones about schools not graduating a single player on a NCAA finalist team. Was it UConn that got most headlines for this?

Repeating this link:

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/ncaa-tournament/history/finalfourseeds

One other 7 has made it, UVA(1984), but one 8, one 9 and three 11s have made the final 4.

First post in this thread. I’m a Big whatever they are(j/k) fan. Love Wisconsin , and UM has a kid from the school district where I live playing, and several surrounding districts have kids playing for them, too.

Wow. Never ever did I think Wisconsin would be the only Big 10 team to make it. If you had asked me, I would’ve said they had the least likely chance out of MSU, U of M, and them.

I honestly did want Michigan to beat Kentucky (despite my earlier post lol). Wisconsin/Michigan would’ve been a great game.

Isn’t Kentucky kind of a young team?

2nd and last post. I must be a jinx. You can tell from my above post who I’ll be going for.

Aggghhh. Nice of you, romani. I would have rooted for State if they’d made it, too.

Well…lots of bad words around here.

I am totally with you there in the “arggghhh” category, garland. I always want Michigan teams to do well. And Big 10 teams in general. Except that red one in that state south of us

This is the first time in years that I haven’t done a cash bracket. I’m suddenly so very grateful for that fact.

Anyone still doing well in cash brackets? I’m in first on the CC one but I can’t get any more points lol.

We’ll have to root for Wis, which will be easy. though honestly, I’m out bracketwise and watching/paying attention wise.
And yeah, who was that red one south of us??? Blinked and they were gone. So there’s that. :)

Darn. Wish the Michigan teams had won. Would have been fun to watch some Big Ten basketball down here. Local paper of course had pages of Florida sports news and about 1/8 page about UW win somewhere near the back of the section. Read that Badger student athletes article (on the UW CC forum)- makes me proud of my school.

Amen!

Good luck, wis. I’m pulling for Wisconsin!

It would have been so great to have 3 of the Final Four be from the Big 10. sigh Disappointing day in NCAA basketball.

What happened to all of the myriads of east coast CCers? Is this topic only of interest to that forgotten middle of the country (which has great academics in addition to sports)?

I’m east coast…but yeah, we don’t have the kind of college-sport identification that the MW does, tend to skew pro teams here. I’d just assume my state’s flagship stop throwing more bad money into sports, but now that we’ve joined the Big Ten, I guess i’ll just enjoy maybe getting to see my alma mater—UMich-- play, and pretend Rutgers is not wasting money trying to play with the big boys.

In CT, we identify with our college team. We dont have any pro teams in the state. Sorry to the MSU fans on CC. I didn’t think we’d beat them the way MSU has been playing lately.

I don’t usually think of pro teams as state-centric in the east, since we’re all generally smaller states. I had thought that CT tended to split between NYC and Boston allegiance, depending mostly on side of state. At least that’s what my CT friends have told me (especially in baseball and football.)
