I was wondering last night what makes teens want to rebel against the law/parents…what’s your input? Are you rebellious?

I’m not rebellious for its own sake. However, I have no problem breaking rules I don’t agree with. That has earned me the reputation of a rebel. Apparently, not accepting bullsh1t lying down makes you a rebel.

^^Well, if the rules were so optional, they wouldn’t be “rules.” Thus, breaking them = “rebellion.”

I’m not rebellious at all.

The law, no. My parents, yes, in a way mainly because their commands, orders, reasons and judgments are highly irrelevant, unreasonable, and overprotective in a given situation. ie, can’t even go out into my front or backyard because i will be “kidnapped by gangsters” (asian accent) I mean the things they say are just stupid and contradictory all the time. My dad didn’t let my brother play with his friend when he came to our house just because he had a skateboard and thus thought that he was “gangster.” At that time, my brother was in the SIXTH grade. >_>
But of course, I know to do good in school and avoid drugs and all that stuff.

I guess it has to do with what some people think is fun. I guess I am “rebellious” when it comes to the law sometimes (>_>), but i’m obedient to my parents (well, they are the coolest parents ever and dont ask for much lol)

My parents give me so much freedom that I can’t really be rebellious. I can just leave at 6 AM and come back at midnight and they won’t mind or even ask where I’ve been.

Hmmm, not really. My mom is already pretty cool when it comes to going out, staying out late, etc. I’m not a bad kid, and she knows it, so there’s really no reason to put me on a leash. I love her so much.
As for laws, no. I don’t really see the point.

EDIT: ^Sounds exactly like my mom.

I don’t think I’m rebellious nor have ever done anything particularly rebellious.

I’m becoming rebellious… I’m actually planning to sneak out of my dorm next year to have a little fun with some people. But I’ll probably just end up at a party at a day student’s house instead…

I’m calming down.

Law, not rebellious.

To my Mother: I refuse to go to Muslim school, which is basically to learn Arabic, then memorize the Qur’an.

Islam and I have a complicated relationship; my beliefs are firmly agnostic. But, sometimes it’s hard to separate my culture and my religion.

No, not really.

My mother seems to think so though… :/

As someone who wants to be communist but is too elitist, I am automatically because otherwise collectivized anarchy will never be established

not really, my mom thinks I’m a good one

generally I’m not such a dork to never skip some classes and have some fun and break little laws that few care about, but I’m not randomly angry at any establishment

I always thought rebellious teenagers were so annoying and stereotypically trying to be different in the exact same way everyone was trying to be different and as a kid it was my biggest fear to become that kind of an unselfaware idiot. So I think I avoided that bull at least.

I bet your moms are reading this thread. O:

^Your mom reads my threads, and looks for the good stuff. I’m rebellious against my parents sometimes…but that’s all.

im only rebellious becuase my parents try to control me too much, haha

I’m rebellious only when it comes to stupid, small stuff, like wearing an out-of-uniform jacket around in school, or going out and sitting on the roof when everyone’s asleep in the house.
